Setting up your first welcome pack

A simple way to write a welcome pack your guests will actually use.

By the Welcome Pack team

Setting up a welcome pack takes a bit of time at the start, but you only do it once. Here's a simple way to go about it.

Start with the essentials

These are the things almost every guest needs:

  • how to get in, and check-in and check-out times
  • the WiFi name and password
  • parking
  • bins and recycling
  • how the heating and hot water work
  • who to call if something goes wrong

Add these first and your welcome pack is already useful.

Group it into tabs

Put your sections into a few categories, for example:

  • House info: WiFi, check-in, heating and appliances
  • House rules: pets, smoking, noise and checkout
  • Safety: fire exits, the first aid kit, the stopcock and emergency numbers
  • Local area: cafés, pubs, shops, walks and days out

Write it the way you'd explain it

Short, specific instructions work best. "The thermostat is in the hallway by the coat hooks. Press the up arrow to turn the heating up" is easier to follow than "Heating is controlled by the thermostat". Specific answers help the AI concierge too, because it answers from what you've written.

Add photos where they help

A photo of the key safe, the stopcock or the bin store saves a lot of explaining.

Check it on your phone, then share it

Preview your welcome pack, read it as a guest would, and ask the AI concierge a few questions to see how it answers. Then publish it, send the link before guests arrive and put the QR code by the front door.
